Will my choice of an electric company affect the reliability of my electricity service?
The provider you choose has nothing to do with the delivery of your electricity. Your electricity is delivered by the still-regulated local wires company (your Utility), ensuring for you the same safety and reliability regardless of which provider you choose.

Your chosen Provider (Maison Reserve) buys and/or reserves energy in bulk while taking on the overhead of attracting and maintaining customers. Your utility is the one delivering your power. Your provider (Maison Reserve) is only responsible for billing you for your usage.
What is renewable energy?
Renewable energy is energy derived from natural sources that are replenished at a higher rate than they are consumed. Sunlight and wind, for example, are such sources that are constantly being replenished. Renewable energy sources are plentiful and all around us.
What are the most common sources of renewable energy?
SOLAR ENERGY
Solar energy is the most abundant of all energy resources and can even be harnessed in cloudy weather. The rate at which solar energy is intercepted by the Earth is about 10,000 times greater than the rate at which humankind consumes energy.

WIND ENERGY
Wind energy harnesses the kinetic energy of moving air by using large wind turbines located on land (onshore) or in sea- or freshwater (offshore). Wind energy has been used for millennia, but onshore and offshore wind energy technologies have evolved over the last few years to maximize the electricity produced - with taller turbines and larger rotor diameters.

GEOTHERMAL ENERGY
Geothermal energy utilizes the accessible thermal energy from the Earth’s interior. Heat is extracted from geothermal reservoirs using wells or other means.

HYDROPOWER
Hydropower harnesses the energy of water moving from higher to lower elevations. It can be generated from reservoirs and rivers. Reservoir hydropower plants rely on stored water in a reservoir, while run-of-river hydropower plants harness energy from the available flow of the river.

OCEAN ENERGY
Ocean energy derives from technologies that use the kinetic and thermal energy of seawater - waves or currents for instance - to produce electricity or heat.

BIOENERGY
Bioenergy is produced from a variety of organic materials, called biomass, such as wood, charcoal, dung and other manures for heat and power production, and agricultural crops for liquid biofuels. Most biomass is used in rural areas for cooking, lighting and space heating, generally by poorer populations in developing countries.

What is energy deregulation?
Energy deregulation allows for open competition in the energy markets, giving you the power to choose which retail energy provider will receive your hard-earned money.
Does everyone have a choice in who provides their energy services?
Unfortunately, the answer is no.

Several states have opened to competition in the energy markets serving their residents, but many have not. And to make matters even more confusing, some cities and zip codes within deregulated states aren’t deregulated at all.

What are TDU delivery charges?
TDU delivery charges pay for the maintenance of the poles and wires that deliver electricity to your home and for the meters that measure it. The TDU delivery rates are regulated. The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) approves all utility delivery rates.

And these delivery rates are passed through to the customer without markup.
What makes up the TDU delivery charges?
Delivery charges are made up of multiple components:

  • Energy Efficiency Cost Recovery Factor (EECRF)
  • Transmission Cost Recovery Factor (Rider TCRF)
  • Accumulated Deferred Federal Income Tax (ADFIT) Credit
  • Transition Charges (Schedule TC2, TC3, SRC, and TC5)

These tariff documents are 200+ pages long and are a proven way to make you become extremely bored and never want to read again.

When do TDU delivery rates change?
TDU delivery rates change officially twice a year, March 1 and September 1. The Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) must approve delivery charges.

How will energy help the Maison Reserve Ecosystem?

Paying an electric bill requires a transaction every 30 days, regardless of a customers' social class and economic environment. It's recession-proof, and a required expense (just like paying taxes), which in turn leads to more transactions that BUY our crypto every month, day, and hour. It also brings long-term stability to the price, making it less prone to extreme fluctuations, as well as nefarious pump-and-dump behavior.

For every buying transaction, there’s a seller. Maison Reserve (the Company) is not selling any of our crypto. Meaning, you as a Maison crypto holder dictate how much you’re willing to sell it back to us for, which is what we in turn give the customer that is on the receiving end of the cash-back transaction. If you’re the only wallet willing to sell us Maison crypto, and we owe a customer $75 dollars in cash-back on their electric bill, even if you want $1 dollar per 1 Maison coin, you’ll get $75 dollars for 75 Maison coins.

Everyone comes out winning! That transaction didn’t cost Maison Reserve (the Company) anything. We simply used the profit margin ($75) from the electric bill that was paid, and went to the exchange offering $75 dollars for 'whatever amount' of Maison crypto those dollars could afford to buy. You as the person that sold the crypto obviously benefited from the transaction. Same goes for the electric customer that received the 75 Maison coins which they spent $0 to acquire.
